A gorgeous October afternoon greeted two unbeaten teams in the league, with Bar Hill having drawn their first two league games.

Spirits in the team were good pre-match and management asked the team to play their game on the floor, with precise passing and to compete for the whole 90 minutes. More importantly, to be competitive from the start of the match.

Netherton were quickly out of the blocks and it was evident that the team were up for this today. Neat, crisp passing found the wings regularly and the centre of midfield was solid.

It was 10 minutes in when Rachel slotted a ball through to Yas who picked the ball up and confidently stroked it past the keeper for her first goal in Netherton colours. This was a fair reflection on the game so far and Netherton were looking on their game.

Whenever Bar Hill were able to break forward, the back four and Katie looked really secure, in fact Katie had barely a save to make all game.

On 30 minutes, the line up was refreshed with multiple changes, but having 2 wingers on the bench today meant that we could keep the wingers fresh and this is where we were getting most joy.

On 31 minutes, we scored our second, Rachel again assisting, this time for Kerry who headed the ball over the keeper into an empty net.

Half Time 2-0

The game continued with Netherton domination, again breaking down and dealing with anything Bar Hill could throw at us.

It wasn't until the last 5 minutes that we were to add another two goals. It was yet another stunning corner from Rachel that made it 3-0, Bar Hill were just unable to deal with the whip and curl Rachel put on the ball.

The final goal was the pick of the bunch. Megan S squared the ball for Megan P, who looked up and dispatched the ball with accuracy and power into the top corner of the goal from 35 yards, a fitting end to the scoring.

The only real sour point to the game was what looked like a serious injury to Stacey in the dying minutes of the game. All our fingers are crossed that it is not as serious as it initially looked.

Full Time 4-0

A resounding victory and a magnificent performance from all 16 players today, rightly applauded by the opposition management after the game. We have been threatening this for a while, we now need to make this our standard in following games
