After another good midweek training session, the ladies arrived at The Grange in good spirit and the dressing room was much noisier this week, just as management had asked.

Not only did we have a squad of 16 available for the first time this season, it was also the strongest matchday squad of the season so far and an excellent starting 11. New signing Sasha was delayed in arriving at the ground so Yasmin got the nod to start alongside Alice up front.

The pre-match talk was all about fulfilling our potential, which we all know we haven't been any where near for most of this season and performances just haven't been at a high enough level.

Well, if ever a team talk was listened to it was this one! Straight onto the front foot from kick off and in just over a minute we had taken a 1-0 lead. The ball found Yasmin centrally just outside the box, she held the ball up and fed the oncoming Stacey F on the right and after a controlling touch she found the corner of the net from 15 yards out, what a start.

We continued to press and several chances came and went, with Yasmin unlucky in hitting the post. On 15 minutes, Sasha came on to replace the unwell Alice (been unwell for a couple of weeks but still works her socks off). It was finally great to see Sasha in Netherton colours and almost straight away she was showing her pace and ball control and linked up well with Yasmin.

We continued to run the game, playing the passing game we knew would could produce. Strong at the back, we dealt with everything they could throw at us and Katie didn't let us down when she was called into action, going down quickly to her right to turn a shot around the post, in her only real action of the game. Her distribution was excellent today.

Our second goal came on 38 minutes when Georgina slid a ball through the left channel, Megan S ran onto it and slid the ball past the keeper.

Half Time 2-0

The second half was pretty much the same as the first half, we were dominating large periods of play and were able to defend well anything they had to throw at us. We created many more chances in the second half and if there is any criticism of our performance, it would be that we are still not taking as many chances as we should be.

Full Time 2-0

But let that not detract from today's performance, we were excellent and goals will come. The club chairman even remarked that this is the best Netherton Ladies performance he had seen in five years, hard to argue with that to be fair.

We now know what we need to be doing week in week out, we have the ability in the squad to perform like this and show that we can beat anyone in our league on our day.
