After being back in training for just 2 weeks, this was always going to be a tough game, particularly as Sleaford Town play above us in the Ladies football pyramid.
With just 16 available for the match, a 4-4-2 formation was decided upon as it is a formation the Ladies are used to and fitted the players we had available.
In the first minute, Sleaford had their first shot on goal but it wasn't to trouble Katie Cooper between the sticks. We continued to grow in confidence in the first ten minutes making really good use of the wings.
A corner from Rachel Anderson on 11 minutes swung dangerously into the box could only be diverted into the goal from a defender and we were one up.
We continued to play strong, attacking football and were rampant down both flanks.
Although there were to be no further goals before half time, we felt we had bossed the first half in what was an excellent team performance.
The second half continued in the same vein, we were passing nicely, working hard to win possession and working hard for each other. Although there were not too many chances on goal, some of the approach play was excellent.
The last ten minutes our Ladies were running out of steam and although Sleaford were pressing on, we never really looked like conceding.
There were so many good performances today, it would be unfair to pick out individuals for praise. We worked hard as a team all afternoon, played football the way the manager wanted us to and received praise from many of the supporters.
An excellent start to the pre-season, a win and a clean sheet. We go again next Sunday at The Grange v Cambridge City Girls, 1400 kick off.

Great to see this young team developing. The future looks very bright at Netherton.
